The law in New York, in plain English

The New York State Gaming Commission licenses the apps and the minimum age is 21. State law treats any game with a New York college team as a prohibited sports event wherever it is played, so Syracuse football is off the board at every New York sportsbook.

New York is also fighting prediction markets. The Gaming Commission sent Kalshi a cease-and-desist in October 2025, a federal judge refused Kalshi's request to block the state in July 2026, and Attorney General Letitia James sued Kalshi on July 31 and Polymarket on September 24; the CFTC has sued to stop the state. Both were still operating in New York at this review. Novig is available in New York.
