North Carolina coach Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson ended their romantic relationship late last year and kept it quiet, TMZ reported Friday night, according to On3. The two are still friends and still run their business ventures together, per the report. It surfaced less than 24 hours before the Tar Heels host top-ranked Miami.

The timing is what makes it odd. As Yahoo Sports noted, the pair kept appearing together in public through 2026. That included a trip to the Kentucky Derby in May. Hudson, 25, has also been on the UNC sideline this fall, including last week's loss to Syracuse. Parade reported that People confirmed the split. None of the reports say why the relationship ended or who decided to end it.

Belichick, 74, and Hudson went public in 2024, months after he left the New England Patriots. She became a regular part of the story when he took over at Chapel Hill in 2025. Since the professional partnership is reportedly still in place, the report may not change much day to day. Nothing in the coverage suggests any effect on the football staff or Belichick's role.

Belichick's program will be glad to talk about something else. On the field, his second season has been uneven.

What it means for Miami

North Carolina is 4-3 and comes off a gut punch: a 31-30 home loss to Syracuse that snapped a two-game run of close road wins, 24-20 at Duke and 21-17 at then-No. 25 Pittsburgh. Against the better teams on the schedule, the Tar Heels have stayed close without winning. They lost 28-20 at Clemson and 37-26 to No. 3 Notre Dame. The offense has scored more than 30 only once, in a 35-3 win over East Tennessee State. That's a thin margin against the No. 1 team in the country. The game kicks off Saturday on ABC.

The prices reflect that gap. Miami is favored at -567 on Novig, and the best price on the Hurricanes among the 12 venues on this site's board is -430 at Kalshi. That's a real spread between venues for a heavy favorite. North Carolina is +525 on Novig. On the spread, Novig has Miami favored by 14.5 at +111. Hard Rock Bet offers the best Miami number, -13.5 at -115. The total is 53.5 on Novig, and Pinnacle has the best over price at 53. Sportsbook hold on the moneyline ranges from 3.8% to 6.2%.

A total in the 50s implies more scoring than North Carolina has managed in most of its games. If the Tar Heels are going to stay inside two touchdowns, they'll likely need another low-scoring, grind-it-out game like the ones that won at Duke and Pittsburgh.
