ACC Week 6 recap: North Carolina stuns No. 25 Pitt, Georgia Tech edges Duke, Louisville routs Florida State

Pitt and Duke lost their unbeaten records, Cal won with 18 seconds left and Wake Forest scored 28 straight at NC State. Every ACC result from Friday and Saturday.

The ACC's Week 6 took the zero out of the loss column for two of its contenders. Pitt lost at home to North Carolina, Duke lost at Georgia Tech on a missed field goal in the final seconds, and three of Saturday's ACC games were decided by a score or less. Here is every result, with the late game still being played as of this writing.

North Carolina 21, No. 25 Pitt 17

Billy Edwards Jr. hit Shamar Easter for a 75-yard touchdown 11 seconds after Pitt took a 17-14 lead early in the fourth quarter, and the Tar Heels held on in Pittsburgh. Edwards threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns, with two interceptions. Holden Geriner, making his first college start for the injured Mason Heintschel, went 27 of 44 for 219 yards and two picks. It was Bill Belichick's first win over a ranked team at North Carolina, which moves to 3-2. Pitt is 5-1. The full story.

Georgia Tech 28, Duke 25

Trelain Maddox scored from a yard out with 54 seconds left, his third touchdown of the day, and Duke's Gavin Strange missed a 33-yard field goal wide left with five seconds to go. Alberto Mendoza completed 23 of 30 passes for 218 yards, and Jordan Allen caught 10 for 99. Duke's Nate Sheppard ran for 99 yards and two scores and caught seven passes for 91. Penalties hurt Duke again: six for 71 yards, including a personal foul on the winning drive. Georgia Tech (2-3) has its first ACC win; Duke, No. 23 in the coaches poll, falls to 4-1.

Louisville 44, Florida State 20 (Friday)

Florida State led 14-0, failed on fourth-and-goal at the 3, and watched Isaac Brown go 97 yards on the next play. Louisville scored 35 straight. Brown finished with 235 yards on 17 carries and the Cardinals ran for 397. Both teams are 3-3, and Florida State has lost 11 straight true road games. More on Florida State's night.

Cal 25, Virginia Tech 20

With Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele out with a concussion, Jackson Brousseau threw for 321 yards in his first Cal start, and Ashten Emory's 2-yard run with 18 seconds left won it. Cal is 3-3; Virginia Tech has lost two straight to fall to 4-2. How Cal got there.

Wake Forest 38, NC State 14

Wake Forest trailed 14-10 at halftime in Raleigh and scored the last 28 points. Gio Lopez went 26 of 33 for 303 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another. Jack Foley caught eight passes for 156 yards and Carlos Hernandez caught 12 for 117. NC State ran for 15 yards. Wake, which received votes in this week's AP poll, is 5-1 and has won three straight. NC State is 3-3.

No. 3 Notre Dame 58, Stanford 7

Notre Dame ran for 361 yards and Jonaz Walton broke a 97-yard touchdown run in a 16th straight win for the Irish. Stanford managed 202 yards, turned it over three times and is 2-4.

Syracuse at Virginia (in progress)

Syracuse led Virginia 14-7 midway through the second quarter at Scott Stadium as of 8:30 p.m. ET. Syracuse came in 2-2 and Virginia 3-2.

Off this week

No. 4 Miami (5-0), No. 24 SMU (4-1), Clemson (3-2) and Boston College (2-3) had open dates.
